Mfc 7360 Replace Toner Continue Stop

Toner Yields

-    Starter toner cartridge (provided with new machines) has a yield of approximately 1,000 pages (letter)

-    TN210BK standard toner cartridge has a yield of approximately 2,200 pages (letter)

-    TN210C, TN210M, TN210Y standard toner cartridge has a yield of approximately 1,400 pages (letter)

The approximate toner yield is in accordance with the testing protocol called ISO/IEC 19798 (Letter).  The testing protocol involves, among other things, continuous printing of a 5% coverage sample page of text.  Users who typically print one or two-page jobs or who typically print documents with toner coverage higher than 5% should expect to receive a lower page yield.

Actual page count will vary depending on your document type (standard letter, detailed graphics) and the number of pages printed per job.

The Replace Toner message:

The message Replace Toner appears on the display if any one of the following occurs:

-    The toner cartridge is at its end of life and needs to be replaced.

-    The developer roller has reached its upper limit of rotations.

The message Replace Toner will not clear from the display if:

-    The replacement toner cartridge is not installed properly.

-    A starter toner cartridge is installed as a replacement toner cartridge.

-    A toner cartridge from another machine or a used toner cartridge is installed as a replacement toner cartridge.

If the message Replace Toner continues to appear on the display after installing a replacement toner cartridge, answer the following questions:

A. Was the cartridge replaced and immediately after replacing the cartridge, Replace Toner continued to appear?  This means the Replace Toner message NEVER cleared and NO pages were print after the new cartridge was installed because the 'Replace Toner' message remained on the display.

B. Was the cartridge replaced and cleared Replace Toner, but the message returned after some usage of the new toner?  This means a new cartridge was installed and the Replace Toner message cleared.  Then, after printing some pages, Replace Toner re-appeared on the display.

If the answer is A, go to STEP 1 .

If the answer is B, refer to the solution I recently installed the starter or a new toner cartridge and I don't think I got the full yield from the toner. What can I do?

1. Confirm the color toner currently displayed on the LCD is the same color as the toner cartridge that was replaced.  Be sure to read the scrolling message that appears after Replace Toner.  The scrolling message specifies which color needs to be replaced.

-    If YES, the color toner on the LCD is the same color toner that was just replaced, go to STEP 2 .

-    If NO, the color toner currently on the display is NOT the same as the color toner that was replaced, a replacement toner for the color currently on the display must be installed to clear the message.  It appears that after the replacement toner cartridge was installed, a new message appeared for a different color.  After installing a new, out-of-the box Brother standard toner as a replacement, your issue should be resolved.

2.  Was a NEW, out-of-the box, Brother STANDARD toner cartridge (TN210) installed as a replacement toner?

a.  The toner cartridges provided in the box with a new machine are NOT new STANDARD toners.  These are considered starter toners and the only time they are to be installed and used is when the machine is first set up.

b.  A toner cartridge from another machine or that was previously used is NOT a NEW Standard toner.

c.  A toner that is refilled, remanufactured or that is a non-Brother toner is NOT a new Brother Standard toner.

A brand new, out-of-the box standard Brother toner (TN210) should be installed to clear the Replace Toner message.  Do NOT install a Starter toner or a previously installed or used toner cartridge as a replacement toner.  Our standard toner cartridges are manufactured with a reset lever that moves when installed into the machine and triggers a notification that a new cartridge has been inserted.  This mechanically triggers the machine to reset the Replace Toner message.

i. The Brother starter toner cartridges are not manufactured with the reset lever and will not clear the message.

ii.  A used or already installed toner cartridge does NOT have the reset lever in the right position to trigger the machine to reset.  The toner reset lever was already shifted when initially installed into a machine and will not have the lever in the proper position if installed again.  This means the machine will not clear the Replace Toner message.

iii.  Because a remanufactured, refilled or non-Brother toner is not manufactured by Brother, we cannot guarantee the performance of the toner or its ability to operate properly with our machine.

-    If a brand new, out-of-the box Brother Standard toner cartridge was installed, go to STEP 3 .

-    If a Starter toner cartridge, a used Brother toner or a non-Brother toner was installed, you should remove it and install a new, out-of-the box, Brother replacement toner cartridge, your issue should be resolved.

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and toner cartridges.  Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations.  Each individual component is designed to work with the others to ensure quality and reliability.  Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability.  The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third-party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

3. Do the following:

a. Fully open the top cover by lifting up on the handle (1).

b. Take out the color drum unit and toner cartridge assembly that appears in the message.

Image

NOTE: Place the drum and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a piece of disposable paper underneath in case the toner accidentally spills or scatters.

c.  Push down the green-labeled lock lever (1) and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.

Image

NOTE: Handle the toner cartridge carefully.  If toner scatters on hands or clothing, immediately wipe it off or wash it with cold water.

d.  Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times to evenly distribute the toner inside the cartridge.  Redistributing the toner may clear the message when the drum and toner assembly is reinstalled into the machine.

e. Reinstall the toner cartridge in the drum unit until you hear it lock into place.

Image

f.  Slide the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the machine.  Make sure you match the toner cartridge color to the same color label on the machine.

g. Close the top cover.
