easy to use... although I wish the instructions were not hidden behind a label they put on the box - always open in an upright position. i learned the hard way... some of the precious paint wouldn't have ended up on the floor had I seen the hidden instructions beforehand - which i'm sad for. but overall great product

4.0 out of 5 stars Product not as pictured

I ordered the Venetian Red Pearl touch-up paint. The picture of the product shows a black bottle with a paint brush cap. The product I received is a pen. It has a ceramic cleaning tip, the paint tip, and a clear coat with brush all in one pen-shaped product. I would say that the pen is probably a better solution than the brush paint that is pictured.

The only issue with the pen is that it is very hard to regulate the flow of paint when you want only a small amount of paint for a small chip. I found it best to flow some paint onto a piece of hard material like tile or glass, then use the pen to dip and paint from that tile or glass.

Also, the paint comes with a plastic piece attached to it. It looks like - for a lack of better description - rocket fins. It's used to stabilize the pen so it can be stood up on one end for storage, I guess. Anyway, DO NOT try to take these fins off by twisting it - just pull it off in a straight movement. If you twist, it removes the lid to the paint reservoir. I made this mistake and spilled about $10 worth of paint onto my garage floor. I was not expecting the main paint reservoir to be accessible - I would have thought it would be a sealed product, but no.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pen did not work, paint color did not match

I have a brand new crimson pearl Outback so no chance the color has changed due to sun/etc. The pen part of this product would not release the paint no matter what I did. The brush part (exactly like a nail polish brush) was not ideal for the scratch I was covering but I tried. When it dried the touch up was a lighter color than my car. I shook the pen for a full minute before using as other reviews mentioned. So dissappointed. Would not reccommend for anything other than minor touch ups in a spot that is difficult to see.

Updated from 2 starts to 1 star because the scratch was less noticeable than the touch up paint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient

Very convenient device for touching up just a few small chips. There's plenty of paint in the pen for many touch ups as long as they're somewhat small.

Make sure to shake it to mix the color VERY well before doing your first touch up. My first one didn't match as perfectly as the subsequent touch ups I did because I should have mixed it a little better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Color K6U is an absolute 100% PERFECT match...

I used Rust-Oleum Rust Dissolver Jelly to COMPLETELY eliminate the rust out of the spots which works very well turning the rust into a grey layer. Like a prime coat. Shake the Subaru paint applicator for about 30-60 seconds. I used the abrasive tip to gently scrape the edges of the scratches. You want to get any and all debris, rust residual or lint away from the spot to be painted. I then used the paint brush (unscrew it) to fill in the area. You can add multiple paint coats before applying the top coat. Allow 30 minutes to dry between each coat. As you can see in the photos I uploaded, K6U is a 100% perfect match for my 2014 Outback, Carbide Grey. Perfect!!!

Got this for my white Subaru. Not even close. Looks like I use white out from an office supply store.
